Our Mission

To enrich the lives of youth and adults of all abilities in a ranch-like setting while providing opportunities to learn, maintain and improve participation in independent living, vocational training and recreational activities.  Building independence in their home and job as well as in society.

 

Dragonfly Ranch strives to:

n    Provide an opportunity for each rancher to achieve growth in independence and self-confidence.

n    Provide an opportunity for each rancher to develop a realistic and positive attitude about himself.

n    Provide an opportunity for each rancher to have fun and adventure.

n    Provide an opportunity for each camper to develop socially acceptable behaviors towards peers and others

n    Provide an opportunity for each rancher to be accepted and appreciated for his or her special interests and accomplishments.

n    Provide an opportunity for each rancher to develop a sense of belonging.

n    Provide a setting for each rancher in which they have the maximum opportunity to grow in mind, in spirit and in body, through a well-balanced variety of activities designed to stimulate the mind as well as the body, and by making available a wealth of opportunities for meditative and spiritual growth.

 

Our Vision

Dragonfly Ranch will be a unique non-profit community dedicated to enriching the lives of children and adults of all abilities. Programs and activities will provide social, environmental, recreational and spiritual growth; while providing inclusive athletic, fitness, recreational, agricultural and meaningful fun.  Including a residential living and work skilled based functional program on the ranch will enrich the lives of adults with disabilities as well as their families.  All people deserve to feel useful, whatever their ability may be.  At Dragonfly Ranch it will be the mission to accompany the lifestyle needs of all ranchers.  

About us

 Life skills education is a large part of our vision  that is woven into our programs.  This provides everyone the opportunity to stretch their comfort zones and learn something new allwhile have the time of their lives!

LIfe lessons are integrated in a fun and stimulating environment with the expectations that each rancher will return home fully equipped to lead more independent and fulfilling lives!  

Program Eligibility

 

Personal Care

Dragonly Ranch is a completely accessible and capable of accomodating individuals who use wheelchairs, walkers or other adapative devices.  Staff are trained and prepared to provide personal care as needed including care for individuals who are incontinent and who reuqire assistance with transferring, bathing, dressing, toileing, feeing and other personal care.  PLEASE NOTE that staff sleeps when ranchers sleep so applicants must have minimal nighttime needs,

 

Behaviorial Challenges

The following behaviorial challenges may not be considered appropriate for acceptance into ranch programs:

-- Individuals who are abusive to self, others or property - including acting out, self-injurious/assaultive behaviors or aggressive tendencies will not be accepted.  

--  Individuals with a history of running off or hiding - inability to remain with the group

--  Physical or sexual aggression

--  Individuals who do not sleep through the night, who exhibit nighttime behaviors that my be disruptive to others, who may wander at night or who require routine assistance throughout the night (frequent toileting, turning, etc.).  Failure to communicate any of the above behaviors/needs may jeapordize the safety of the applicant as well as others at the ranch.  Individuals whose needs and/or behaviorial challenes are beyond the scope of the ranch to safely accomodate will be sent home immediately.)

 

 

Food at Camp

 

 

Meals are served faily style.  Ranchers sit together with their groups for all meals. Once a week each group has a cookout style dinner at the fire pit.  Additionally, every Thursday night is our ranch BBQ which is held outside weather permitting.  Snacks available throughout the day.

 

Our kitchen staff works hard to accomodate most ranchers dietary needs.  If your rancher has a strict dietary need, please speak with the Program Director prior to registering your rancher.  If we are unable to accomodate your ranchers dietary needs you may bring prepared food for them.  If your rancher is a particularly picky eater, please bring food to supplement their diet.

 

For diabetics,  our camp nurses are able to approximate the number of carbohydrates in each meal, however, we cook all our food faimly style and are unable to pinpoint the exact number of carbohydrates.  If your rancher needs strict carb counting please speak with the Program Director prior to registering your rancher.

Ranchers with these food needs are asked to bring along food and snacks to supplement their diet.
